So, what is ArtVenture?
ArtVenture2, “Hiking with the Arts in Mind” will happen July 18-Aug.2.
Art/or facsimiles of it will be hidden frequently throughout this 2 week period. We’ll be hiding the art at several hiking areas in NK as well as at Smith’s Castle and The Quonset Air Museum.
The NKAC is sponsoring ArtVenture, with help from a grant from RISCA, the RI State Council on the Arts.
The goal of AV2 is to celebrate the arts, celebrate North Kingstown and its beautiful open and historical spaces, promote local artists, combat “Nature Deficit Disorder”, and to sharpen that artistic eye!
When one finds some art, they get to keep it! One per person please and please log your find onto our AV2 blog. Last year we had a blogger from Scotland! (hadn’t found any art, just loved reading about the ArtVenture!)
We plan to start a “GoFundMe” campaign soon for those who’d like to contribute. Basically, the more money we get, the more art we can purchase. We’re partnering up with Lynn Murphy at “Cooler Tees” to create t-shirts for incentives. She has some wonderful design ideas!
If you’d like to apply to make the art, the “Call to Artist” is (that button to the left) Applications are due April 15. We are paying $15-25 per piece. If your work is selected, the art is due June 17 and we ask that you attend our "Meet Your Artist” reception Wednesday, August 5.
